About This Competition
Focus on the mastery of traditional media - skills learned in your school art room. We want to see your hand and heart on canvas. This is open or all junior secondary and Grade 10 students, that is 12-16 years. Our judging criteria will focus on imagination, originality, and technique. For the mediums use drawings, painting, mixed media. There is no entry fee to the competition.
Rules & Guidelines
The Junior Art Victor Challenge: Official Rules & Guidelines
1. Eligibility
The competition is open to students currently enrolled in **Junior Secondary (Grades 7, 8, 9)and Grade 10.
Participants must be based in Kenya.
Only one entry per student is allowed.
2. Theme & Medium
Theme: "My World, My Canvas: Share Your Vision."
Acceptable Media: Traditional art only. This includes Pencil Drawing, Charcoal, Watercolors, Acrylics, Oils, or Mixed Media (physical materials).
Exclusions:Digital art, photography, and AI-generated works are not eligible for this specific challenge.
3. Submission Requirements
Originality: All artwork must be the original creation of the student. Plagiarism or traced works will result in immediate disqualification.
Digital Submission:Initial entries must be submitted via the official link at Artvictorgallery.co.ke
Photo Quality: Upload a clear, high-resolution photo of the artwork. Ensure the lighting is bright and the camera is level with the piece.
Labeling: Each file must be named as follows: StudentName_Grade_SchoolName.
4. Key Dates
Submissions Open:4th April 2026.
Submission Deadline: 8th May 2026 (11:59 PM EAT).
Winner Announcement:** 15th May 2026 via our social media platforms @ArtVictorGallery.
5. Judging Criteria
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of professional artists based on:
Interpretation of Theme (25%): How creatively the student expressed "My World."
Originality & Creativity (25%): Uniqueness of the concept.
Technical Skill (25%): Mastery of the chosen traditional medium.
Composition & Presentation (25%):The overall visual impact of the piece.
6. Prizes
The Grand Prize:KSh 5,000 cash and a Premium Art Supplies Kit.
Finalists may be invited to exhibit their physical works at Art Victor Gallery (details to be communicated to shortlisted artists).
7. Rights & Permissions
By entering, students and guardians grant Art Victor Gallerypermission to display the artwork on social media and the gallery website for promotional purposes (with full credit to the artist).
The physical artwork remains the property of the artist.
